Accessible Showers
San Antonio • Designed around daily living
A shower planned for the way you move.
AccessAbility Home Modifications designs and installs accessible step-in and roll-in showers for San Antonio homeowners. We consider how you enter, stand, sit, transfer, and reach—not just how the finished bathroom looks.
Our free in-home assessment brings remodeling experience and occupational therapy expertise together to help you choose practical changes for your home.

Step-in and roll-in shower options
Step-in showers
A lower entry can make a shower easier to access than a bathtub. We assess the threshold, available space, and supports that suit your routine.
Roll-in layouts
For wheelchair access, we look at the shower entry, approach, turning space, drainage, and bathroom floor. The existing layout determines what changes are feasible.
Transfer and seating needs
We discuss how you move into the shower, where seating could fit, and whether another person needs room to assist.
Replacing a bathtub? See our tub-to-shower conversion service for more about that type of project.
The details that make a bathroom work better
- Grab bars: Placement planned around entry, standing, and transfers, with appropriate installation support.
- Handheld showerheads: Position and reach considered for seated or standing use.
- Seating options: Discussed alongside usable space and your transfer routine.
- Reachable storage: Shelves and recessed storage located for comfortable access.
- Room to move: Doorways, the route to the shower, and space around other fixtures reviewed together.
- Wall systems and finishes: Contemporary shower surrounds selected for your project and preferences.
We recommend features after seeing the bathroom and learning about your needs. A roll-in entry alone does not make every part of a bathroom accessible.

Questions about accessible showers
Do I need a roll-in shower or a step-in shower?
That depends on your entry and transfer needs, the equipment you use, and the bathroom layout. We help compare options during your assessment.
Can you work in a small bathroom?
We assess the available space and explain what can be improved within it. Some goals may require changes beyond the shower itself.
Can you plan for future mobility needs?
Yes. We discuss your goals and consider adaptable features and usable space. No single layout can anticipate every future need, but thoughtful planning helps you make informed choices.
What affects the price?
The scope, shower system, accessories, plumbing, floor work, and existing conditions affect cost. Your written quote follows the in-home assessment.
Do you help Veterans with HISA projects?
We provide assessments, estimates, and installation after VA approval. Veterans apply through the VA. Learn about our HISA home modification services.
